Saturday 12th November – walk **** – Hadleigh circuit – Sunny periods.

After 4 windsurfing sessions in 5 days I was pleased the weekend forecast was for light winds especially as we had an invitation for a meal with Peter and Gill Cutts who we haven’t seen for 2 years, Peter is half of the UK Saga Speedsailing team, famous for trips to La Franqui, Southend, West Kirby and Point Clear:) I even managed to do my exercises, the first time for a week before packing a picnic and setting off for Hadleigh managing to find a lovely spot to park over a nice old bridge near the River Brett. After a great lunch we walked back to the bridge where someone was feeding loads of geese which came from small holding across the river, we spoke to a lovely lady who owned it, she also had 4 huge Emus, goats and chickens. We then followed the river path through the trees which was very pretty especially with the autumn colours. At the far end you cross a small wooden bridge that leads to Hadleigh town centre, I did live here for a short while many years ago when my parents built a bungalow here but we were surprised by the large number of very old buildings here. We arrived at the massive church built in the 1400,s at the height of the towns wool prosperity. I went in and was impressed by the wooden roof and some cool stained-glass windows. We then carried on back to the river arrived once again at the old bridge, being still too early to go the Peter and Gills we walked towards the football ground, over the river where the mill used to be before heading back to the van but not before spotting a Kingsfisher whizz past and a family of swam having a preen:)
We then went to Peter and Gills and had a lovely afternoon/evening catching up and reminiscing about the good old days of windsurfing, top meal too, in fact it was gone 9 before we headed for home!
